Ingredients We Never Use
No Hydroquinone
Once a common ingredient used in many topical skin lightening treatments, hydroquinone is now restricted by the FDA due to safety concerns. Some countries have even banned the use of hydroquinone completely due to cases of exogenous ochronosis and leukoderma. Civant products are hydroquinone-free and instead utilize many natural skin brightening ingredients that can effectively reduce the appearance of dark spots and skin discolorations.
No Parabens
Parabens are preservatives used to prevent the growth of bacteria within skincare products. They’ve been linked to various adverse health effects from breast cancer to developmental issues, as they can interfere with the body’s hormone production.
No Mineral Oil
Oil-based skincare products can lead to breakouts, depending on your skin type. Oil-free products also absorb quicker without clogging pores.
No Phthalates
Phthalates are used in cosmetics to give them a velvety feel. The same chemicals are used to soften and increase the flexibility of plastic. At Civant, we think phthalates don't belong on your skin.
No Sulfates
Sulfates are petroleum-based chemicals found in cheap soaps. Not only are they harsh detergents, but their production hurts the environment and animals.
No Artificial Fragrance
Added fragrances can act as a skin irritant—and not just for those of us with sensitive skin.
